Is CBD helpful in dementia?

CBD is an oil that is extracted from the hemp plant. It induces the effects by stimulating receptors in our brain. CBD helps in reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression. It is used in people with acne. For cancer patients, it is said that CBD can reduce or diminish the pain experienced. Cannabis herald is available in the form of tablet and oil. It is also used as a skin patch.

CBD and dementia:

CBD helps in the dementia cases of Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular Dementia, Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), Parkinson’s disease, Front temporal dementia and Huntington’s disease. After research, it is found that CBD is helpful in depleting dementia from the brain cells. CBD helps in reducing inflammation and oxygen buildup in the brain of the patients suffering dementia. This is possible because CBD works as a neuroprotector and brain stimulant.

CBD also helps in reducing the stress and anxiety with patients suffering dementia as well as it helps in restoring the memory and other brain functions. As CBD reduces the feeling of anxiety in a patient it is the best cbd oil for sleep.

The FDA has not yet approved the use of CBD in patients with dementia though they have approved of its usage in epilepsy. This is due to the side effects observed during research. Some patients reported diarrhoea and bloating whereas some even added the feeling of nausea. CBD has caused 3% of patients with liver problems which is why they were no longer a participant in the research study.

There is also an issue in monitoring the dosage. The CBD can be administered as tablet, oil or skin patches. There is no way to determine what are the causes of overdose and how much consumption is overdose is appropriate. Neither do we have the results for a long time effect of CBD in patients.

It is important to consult a physical practitioner before consuming CBD. maybe in the future, it will have more concrete results. Though despite side effects, we can say that CBD does help a patient to relax.
